Speaking at Azure Meetup Casteddu - M365 Meets Azure

Hi everyone,

I recently had the opportunity to speak at Azure Meetup Casteddu, presenting a session on M365 Meets Azure: Superpowers for Your Modern Workplace Solutions.

The event was organized by the fantastic team at Azure Meetup Casteddu, a community that consistently delivers quality technical content and brings together professionals who care about Microsoft technologies and cloud development.

The Meetup

Azure Meetup Casteddu is one of those communities where you can really dive deep into technical topics with people who get it. The group focuses on Azure, cloud architecture, and related Microsoft technologies, making it a perfect venue to discuss how M365 and Azure can work together to create powerful solutions.

My Session: M365 Meets Azure - Superpowers for Your Modern Workplace Solutions

I delivered a session titled “M365 Meets Azure: Superpoteri per le tue Soluzioni sul Modern Workplace” (M365 Meets Azure: Superpowers for Your Modern Workplace Solutions).

What We Explored

Microsoft 365 and Azure are powerful on their own, but when you bring them together, that’s when things get interesting.

In this session, we covered:

  • Why M365 and Azure Together: Understanding the value of integrating both platforms
  • Real-World Integration Scenarios: Practical use cases where M365 and Azure complement each other
  • Authentication and Identity: Leveraging Microsoft Entra ID across both platforms
  • Data and APIs: Building custom APIs with Azure that interact with M365 services
  • Automation and Workflows: Creating solutions that span both ecosystems

The goal was to demonstrate how developers can unlock new capabilities by thinking beyond the boundaries of a single platform and combining the strengths of both M365 and Azure.

Audience Engagement

The session generated some solid discussion, which is always a good sign. People were interested in the practical aspects of integrating these platforms, and we had some good questions about real-world implementation challenges… exactly the kind of conversation that makes these meetups valuable.

The Demo

To make things more concrete, I prepared a live demo showing a real integration between M365 and Azure. The demo showcases:

  • Building a custom API on Azure that interacts with Microsoft 365 data
  • Implementing authentication using Microsoft Entra ID
  • Creating a practical workflow that leverages both platforms

You can check out the demo code and documentation here:

Feel free to explore the code, try it out, and use it as a starting point for your own integrations.

Why This Matters

If you’re working with Microsoft 365, you’re probably already thinking about how to extend its capabilities. Azure opens up a lot of possibilities:

  • Custom APIs and Microservices: Build backend services that integrate seamlessly with M365
  • Scalability and Performance: Handle workloads that go beyond what M365 can do natively
  • Data Processing and Storage: Leverage Azure services for advanced data operations
  • Enterprise Integration: Bridge M365 with other systems and services through Azure
  • Flexibility: Implement custom business logic that works alongside M365 functionality

Understanding how these platforms work together gives you more options and control when designing solutions for the modern workplace.

Thank You

Thanks to the Azure Meetup Casteddu organizers, Antonio e Fabio, for putting together the event and for the invitation to speak. It’s always good to connect with the local tech community and share knowledge with people who are working on similar challenges.

If you’re in the area and interested in Azure and Microsoft technologies, this is definitely a community worth checking out.

Until next time!

Federico
